How to schedule social media posts for Shopify products (with a 4-week calendar)

Shopify has no organic post scheduler of its own. Here is how to schedule a month of product posts in about an hour a week: which tool to use, a calendar you can copy, and the checks that stop you promoting a sold-out product.

Short answer

Shopify doesn't include a scheduler for organic social posts. Its Facebook & Instagram channel syncs your catalog for shopping tags and ads; the posts themselves are scheduled in each platform's own tool or in a social media scheduler that can pull in your products. The routine that works:

  1. Get your product photos, links and prices into one scheduler.
  2. Fill a weekly calendar from a fixed template (below).
  3. Batch-create and schedule the week in one sitting.
  4. Run a 30-second check on each post before it goes live.
  5. Look at what sold, adjust next week.

Native schedulers vs one scheduler for everything

Every major platform can schedule its own posts, which is free but means one tool per platform:

PlatformNative optionHow far aheadCatch
Instagram & FacebookMeta Business SuiteSeveral weeks (around two months at the time of writing)Meta platforms only
TikTokVideo scheduler on desktop web15 minutes to 10 daysBusiness or Creator accounts, desktop only
PinterestPublish later option when creating a pinUp to about 30 daysSmall queue limit, one pin at a time

For one or two platforms, native tools are fine. Past that, a single scheduler saves the real cost: re-uploading the same product photos five times and keeping five calendars in sync. Look for one that imports your Shopify products (so photos, prices and links are already there), publishes directly rather than sending you a reminder, and confirms each post actually went live.

A 4-week calendar for product posts

Built for a store with 15 to 50 products posting on Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest. Swap in your own products; the point is that every slot already has a job, so you never stare at a blank calendar.

Post the same vertical Reels to TikTok and YouTube Shorts with captions rewritten for each. Pinterest pins should be tall (2:3) with a searchable title and link to the product page, not the homepage. Need a version for your own products? The free content plan generator drafts one.

Schedule around your store, not just the calendar

  • Launches: one teaser 5–7 days out, a "tomorrow" post, launch day, and a "how people are using it" post 3–5 days later. Schedule all four at once, so the launch can't slip.
  • Sales with an end date: put the end date in the caption and on the image, schedule the last-chance post, and delete anything mentioning the code that would publish after it expires.
  • Restocks: "back in stock" posts often outperform launch posts for products people already wanted. Schedule one the day stock lands.
  • Seasons and gifting: gift posts work best a few weeks before the date, while there is still time to ship. Schedule them early.
  • Your buyers' time zone: if most orders come from another country, schedule for their evening, not yours.

What time to schedule product posts

There is no universal best time, and generic "post at 11am Tuesday" studies average across millions of accounts that aren't yours. Start with when your buyers have their phones out (lunchtime and evenings in their time zone), then after three or four weeks switch to your own data: Instagram and TikTok insights show when your followers are active, and Shopify's reports show when visits from social links turn into orders. Consistency matters more than the exact minute, so pick slots and keep them.

The 30-second check before each post goes live

  • In stock? A post for a sold-out product spends the click and loses the sale. Check stock for anything scheduled more than a week out.
  • Price and offer still right? Discount codes and sale prices in captions go stale fastest.
  • Link goes to the product page, tagged with UTM parameters so Shopify shows which post drove the visit (utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=…).
  • Right crop for the platform: 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 4:5 for Instagram feed, 2:3 for Pinterest. The image resizer does it in a click.
  • Caption fits: no more than 5 hashtags on Instagram, and under the character limit on X and Bluesky.

Scheduling Shopify products with Cadenzova Post

Cadenzova Post is a free scheduler that works with any Shopify store, without an app:

  1. Paste your store URL. Your products import with prices, descriptions and photos, and the photos appear under Products in your media library.
  2. Compose: pick product photos (or upload your own video), write a caption or ask for an AI suggestion, and add the product link.
  3. Schedule to Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube Shorts, X, Bluesky and LinkedIn in one go, at a suggested best time that learns from your own results.
  4. Confirmed live: Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube and Bluesky posts are re-checked after publishing, so you're told when each one is actually up, or why it failed.

It's free for 30 posts a month on 3 channels with no card. Want the calendar filled for you, with Reels and pins made from your products each week? That's the full Cadenzova for Shopify stores, and the bigger system is in our Shopify social media automation guide. It doesn't sync Shopify orders or stock, so the stock check above stays yours.

Frequently asked questions

Can you schedule social media posts in Shopify?

Not natively. Shopify's Facebook & Instagram channel syncs your catalog for shopping and ads, but organic posts are scheduled in each platform's own tool (Meta Business Suite, TikTok's desktop scheduler, Pinterest) or in a scheduler that imports your Shopify products.

What is the best free way to schedule Shopify product posts?

For Instagram and Facebook only, Meta Business Suite is free. For several platforms from one place, use a scheduler with a free tier: Cadenzova Post schedules up to 30 posts a month on 3 channels for free and imports your Shopify products from your store URL.

How many product posts should a Shopify store schedule a week?

A sustainable starting point is 3 posts a week on Instagram and TikTok and a pin a day on Pinterest. Keep the schedule you can maintain, then add slots once you see which posts drive visits and sales.

How far in advance should I schedule product posts?

One to two weeks is the sweet spot. Further ahead, stock levels, prices and offers change and posts go stale. Schedule launch and sale sequences as soon as the dates are fixed.

Should I post the same product on every platform at once?

Use the same product, but not the same post. Make a vertical video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, a tall pin for Pinterest and a carousel for Instagram, and stagger them across the week instead of publishing everything at the same minute.
